"Almost everyone is a smoker, the girls are all quiet, and damn this is just a boring school"
American River College is not much of a "travel destination" but a place for young students to study at a 2 year community college. You can earn two types of degrees ' associates and certificate" and study a wide variety of programs like any other school would offer. Still I find that American River College suffers greatly from the lack of social activity and the school has a rather slow atmosphere. It is quiet during the early morning hours...maybe its because Im taking Summer classes and havent seen the Fall session yet. In the Spring American River was always crowded and sure students would talk but only with their friends and thats how it was back in high school.
Im a guy who wants to meet girls on my campus or people I can really get to know well enough to spend good times with. Sadly I dont see this ever happening at my school. Most of the people are more like machines than human. Its like they were programmed to talk all day on their cell phones, smoke during their break to become the next 22 year old Californian to look 36 years old with wrecked teeth and a unpleasent breath, yet these people are the ones blowing me off? Ha! Dont even make me laugh. I would not say that Sacramento City College is any better than ARC, all colleges in Sacramento seem pretty much the same to me with the exception of more people.
Every Tuesday and Thursday I have to take one class..this class is rather boring and basically ruined most of my interest in Theatre. I've never been so bored with life until I turned 20 years old. While school is a great place to study and learn something new every day I want to meet someone I can spend the rest of my evenings with when classes end. I get tired of my days being the same, I go to school early, go to class, participate in stupid exercises, step outside during our 10 minute break, walk past some guy or girl who's got a damn cig in their mouth screwing up the air, a girl walks by and shes talking on the cell phone (thats all Californians do). This school is very boring, I really need a break from it.
Now before you lash out at me about the school if you are a student there. Im only rating it based off of my own experiences not yours. If you have a good day at ARC or Sac state then thats fine. But look it at this way, your life is not my life. You might have friends, a fun job or at least something even if its a $5.00 an hour job, you might have a girlfriend or a boyfriend that you can share things with, which means your life at this school is better than mines. You probably don't mind the smokers, then again everyone in Sacramento is smoker these days and its no wonder why half of these 21 year olds all ready look older than my grandmom for crises sake, man people who smoke are damn stupid. Worst thing of all, they do it in public and thats not healthy for us non-smokers because we have to breath in that filthy air. I've heard that Portland Oregon has clean air...heh thats funny if there are allot of Gothy types, punky types, or even emo types that air aint clean! Because they are the main ones that smoke the most. Sure the "normal looking types" are always doing it too. Its just you see younger people smoking more than older people. Its about equal in California though.
Anyway I give ARC a 2 out of 5. The only thing thats good about the school is the classes are easy to find on the map and its impossible to get lost unless they moved the class somewhere else.
Other than that, the students are rather quiet. I havn't met one person outside of my class room on campus to talk to. I'd make the first move but what good is that going to do if they never put down their cell phones? Plus some students are always reading or studying. Its impossible to talk to them.
