The Double Dragon video game series was always one of the best of its time during the 1980's and 1990's era. But the problem with games today and games in the past that were also made into movies never did seem to do very well. Double Dragon the movie was one of the worst video game to films ever made. The action is dull, the plot is just plain boring and stupid. So allow me to review "Double Dragon." Introduction: The Dragon movie takes place in New Angelas after a major quake destroyed what use to be "Los Angelas." Two brothers known as the "Double Dragons" are suppose to be out saving the world from Koga Shuko ( the guy that plays the T-1000 in Terminator 2). The film is about a medallian that gives off some sort of special power when formed together with the other half that was lost during a war in ancient China. Plot: very messy and has nothing to do with the Double Dragon video game. The director tried his best to be funny by coming up with stupid lines, Billy Lee (the oldest brother of the Dragons) acts allot like a 5 year old kid literly clowning around through out the entire movie, so don't be surprised if you hear the Dragons calling eachother "buttheads" or some other childish insult that came out of a horrible comedy movie. Its just a disgrace how they ruined this movie. The Double Dragons should have been one of the easiest video game films to make, there are at least 80 minutes of fight scenes and they'er all poorly done. For instance there is a scene where Billy jumps down from a rope and gives a guy a noggie. Its so sad even the cartoon did better than the movie. To make things worst, from the beginning of the movie where Billy and Jimmy Lee are fighting in a Martial arts Tournament they both lost! To amature fighters all because of Billy was acting like a kid. I thought that part was a major insult to the video game. Unlike the degrading Mortal Kombat and Street fighter movies, Double Dragon is allot worst than both of those put together. The only good reason to really watch this movie is to check out the short haired blonde who dresses allot like people use to dress back in the 1990's of the old school days of the break beat era. And if you don't know what break beat is just look up the 1990's pop group TLC. Of course one of the girls of that group died in an car accident. - Vincent , posted 03/17/07 |
