Loving some music by a band named "Pets" based in sacramento. this is a new sound, but if you like the Dandy Warhols, Blondie, Morcheeba, Oasis, you might also like them. other groups that seem to have influenced them somewhat: REM, Eurythmics, BTO, Green Day. check out their CD called "Pick Up Your Feet" - i like the tender pop/rock song "give you a ride" as well as "coldhouse" (got a lot hotter when you came around).

Pets music is hard driving pop rock, with a touch of psychedelic, it's edgy stuff and has some punk undertones (yet probably not enough punk to drive away the pop purists). this is music capable of producing a trance without actually being in the trance genre.

Pets is a big sound, with some very talented lead singers (both male and female) who double as lead guitarists and bass. there's just enough sythesizer or overplay -if that's what you call it- to give you a trip, without being overly melodramatic or annoyingly mind bending. i also like the tunes "peace love frontloading" an instrumental of true genius in the rock profession, as well as "rock josiah". the song "backseat" also highlights the female lead quite well.

this stuff appeals to a wide audience. i've witnessed everyone from teens to people in their mid forties at their venues. i find it very hard to pull myself away from their music and highly recommend it if it is in your area of interest. they're sure to be a big hit - and it's so nice to catch a band in their (relatively) early days of success. - graham , posted 09/22/06
