yes...second that...what???
Hey, I lived in midtown Sac during the mid 90s and loved it! I still visit friends and some family there and I always need to go back downtown for my fix every once in awhile. I have a lot of fond memories being there and the city gave me my start in publishing. It's a nice town and has a lot of good restaurants, shops and art galleries to visit.

I'm sorry for the other folks who didn't or aren't finding what they want there. It's better to move on if a city doesn't make you happy. I moved because I outgrew the city and wanted more challenge for my career. Since I've been away for the past 10 years, I've watched the city grow from a distance and although I'm not fond of some of the urban sprawl, the downtown/midtown appeal has continued to thrive and still attracts me to come for a visit. The Victorian homes are amazing and taking walks in the fall there are a must for me. I had the pleasure of living in one of those beautiful homes. There's wonderful architecture and beautiful gardens to see and especially the rose gardens at McKinley Park.

what????
I live in downtown Sac in a beautiful Victorian and love my "ghetto" neighborhood. There are Mexicans, Asians, Russians and Middle Easterners plus African Americans and people of European descent. I have seen little crime or gang banging. Just poverty. I am in a multi-racial relationship with an Asian man and have had no trouble in any situation. Our landlords are gay, ethnically diverse parents and seem to have no trouble. I wonder if it is possibly an attitude problem. As my grandmother once told me, "are you bored, or boring." The same goes for saying everyone is fake and lame, possibly a bit of projection? I have lived in Oakland for three years, went to public school and lived in a group home. I also lived in S. F. and Los Angeles. People are cool and fake everywhere and like attracts like. Good luck finding the paradise of the perfect people. I moved here this summer from Northern Cali and I love the trees, the museums, the restaurants, the nightlife, the gayscene, the University and most of all myself and all the other humans on this planet just doing the best they can and struggling to self actualize or just survive. - ajoyfulgirl , posted 12/30/06

Yuck Town!!!
Seem like not much has changed. I used to live there with my ex-GF back in the mid-90's. Back then the town was segragated by race and social class. My ex-GF was Asian and I am German-Mexican. People there could not fantom a interracial couple. People were so racists (all groups) that some places would not even give us service. I remember when me, Sunshine and her friends has to go to Sinrise Mall to exchange some shoes. I was told that their was gong to be trouble. As soon as we talked in the who white mall stopped in their tracks and looked at us. It was funny. Everything stopped!!! I mean we did not look like bums or gangsta but students. When we walked in to a store we were ment at the door by the manager saying in a sarcastic voice "Can I help you". The managert or store person hung at our sholders the whole time.

Sunshine and I broke up and I got out of Sactown real fast. I am in Petaluma now. Seems OK so far. However I just keep coming back to Oakland where everybody is cool.

Nuff Said!!!

"A Place More Dead Than A Ghost Town..."
Sacramento, California is not really a travel destination for people looking for excitement...this city does not have anything offer the classic type or someone looking for a much more realistic lifestyle where the people are "ok" and "friendly." California is also home to the many people that mispell words on purpose, and for once I'd like to see new blood pour into the city..

Sacramento has far to many teenagers too, and allot of young pregant girls. The Asians who live in this entire city and the state in general talk and act like the "ghetto" blacks but the funny thing about it is. The Asians, the hispanics, the blacks, and the whites all act the exact same regardless of what scene they represent. For instance people that listen to rock here (mostly slipknot and stuff) also slang talk. When they are 21 or somthing years old you still see them writing and typing like this "wats gwed?" or "wat it is?" Those damn words dont even make sence! And the whole population especially Asians, Blacks, and Hispanics that live here are the main ones that type and write that way. Caucasians tend to capitalize some words and lower case the others but its still stupid. For instance: "hEy,hOwS, iT, GOiNg?" Yes thats pretty much of lame the self proclaimed "Im educated types because I have a degree" are.
Now about the Gothic people?
The Gothic people don't come out during the day, they just go to the club on Arden called "The Ayslum or is it "Asylum?" Either way, I use to wander around Downtown looking for realistic people that use proper english you know? People that were simple, friendly and not copying everyone else. These days its like, if your emo your sad and pathetic, if your into rap you pretend and walk around like you are into a gang. Sacramento California is too damn ghetto and fake to begin with. The only non-ghetto city is located in Carmicheal Or Roseville. But your bound to run into a crowd load of teenagers and we all know how horrible and anoyying under age people can be. I can't stand looking at people with their hair in their eyes, or a face full of make up. But its not easy to avoid them when your living here.

I've been desperatly trying to leave, but the college I am trying to get into is giving me a tough time.
Im quite thankful that I never did make any friends here. All they do is talk like everyone else, pose in their pictures with that stupid faggit peace sign that has to be like extremelly over rated just like the evil eye sign real metal heads use to use in the 1980's Then the symbol caught onto normal types and from then on it was no longer part of the metal scene. Anyone doing this \M/ today with their hands is nothing more than a poser.

If anyone else is proud of being a citizen of Sacramento or California. I ment no offense toward you, but your city and entire state is worthless and fake. Try living in Los Angelas and San Fransico for a few months and you'll get the idea of where all the stupidity lifestyles and such came from.

I prefer a place where everyone is different. If your living in a city/state where 80% of the people are doing the same thing, copying, and imatating what they see all their friends or anyone else doing? You cannot tell me that is one hell of a wrecked place to live.
